{"id":17427,"date":"2019-04-15T08:13:48","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T08:13:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hireheroesusa.org\/?p=17427"},"modified":"2019-04-15T08:13:48","modified_gmt":"2019-04-15T08:13:48","slug":"hire-heroes-usa-featured-employer-siemens-mobility","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hireheroesusa.org\/hire-heroes-usa-featured-employer-siemens-mobility\/","title":{"rendered":"Hire Heroes USA Featured Employer: Siemens Mobility"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h5 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hire Heroes USA Featured Employer: Siemens Mobility<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h2>\n\n\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">At Siemens Mobility, we value veterans not just for the service they have provided to our country, but for the simple fact that they happen to make great employees.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">For those who don\u2019t know us, Siemens Mobility is a leader in transportation solutions, doing everything from manufacturing rail vehicles, to electrifying and automating solutions for both rail and roads.\u00a0 Our focus is to help mobility operators around the world make infrastructure more intelligent, increase value over the entire lifecycle of our solutions, enhance passenger experience and ensure ready availability for their customers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">We have benefitted greatly from Siemens\u2019 overall veterans outreach efforts in the U.S. \u00a0Siemens in the U.S. had been an original participant in the 2011 White House Joining Forces initiative, at that time committing to hiring 300 veterans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">But what Siemens didn\u2019t realize at that time was how great a fit veterans were for Siemens\u2019 various businesses across the U.S.\u00a0\u00a0 Siemens announced its 2000<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0veteran hiring in 2016, a mark that represented a 6-fold increase from the company\u2019s original commitment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">Many of those veterans have come to work for Siemens Mobility, and our hiring of veterans continues to this day; today, more than 10% of Siemens Mobility\u2019s new hires are veterans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">We are very proud to be part of Siemens\u2019 overall efforts, recognized by various publications for overall commitment to recruit, hire and retain qualified veterans.\u00a0 Military Times named Siemens a \u201cBest for Vets\u201d employer in 2015 and 2018, and U.S. Veterans Magazine has named Siemens to its \u201cBest of the Best Top Veteran-Friendly Companies\u201d list every year since 2015.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">However, winning these accolades is not the driver for our efforts \u2013 it\u2019s the skills and attitudes that veterans bring to our organization.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\"><b><strong>\u201cThe Marine Corps taught me skills and philosophies that enable me to help guide Siemens operations support to the next level.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>\u2013 Bryan Tannehill, Manager of Operation Services at Siemens Mobility Rolling Stock<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">We\u2019ve heard already about many of the benefits of working with veterans. They know how to work in an organization and with others.\u00a0 They have a proven ability to learn new skills and concepts.\u00a0 They usually come with a highly-transferable set of skills, supported by the military\u2019s advanced use of technology.\u00a0 And they are trained to keep safety and health standards top of mind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: left;\">But there are a lot of intangibles:\u00a0 the ability to work with all different kinds of people \u2013 regardless of race, gender, geographic origin, ethnic background or economic status.\u00a0 Their ability to work lean and under pressure; to accomplish tight deadlines under high stress.
